At Tuesday's Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation (IRRR) Board meeting, an estimated $9.5 million in business loans and grants, $2.9 million in housing grants, $793,652 in infrastructure grants and $52,600 in trails grants were reviewed to advance projects in northeastern Minnesota. Agency investment for all projects combined is over $13.2 million. Total project investment is estimated at $66 million. The projects are expected to diversify the local economy, increase the regional tax base, retain and create jobs, grow the housing inventory, modernize essential infrastructure and expand outdoor recreation.

“The project investments are expected to have a substantial impact in the Taconite Assistance Area. The business development projects especially will increase the number of living-wage jobs, grow our manufacturing sector and upgrade critical operations equipment for existing businesses,” said Commissioner Ida Rukavina.
