Minneapolis has been categorized as the happiest city in the U.S., according to a new global ranking from the Institute of Quality of Life. The research firm compiled data across thousands of categories to rank cities around the world for its Happy City Index.
Minneapolis, Minnesota ranked 18th in the world and first in the United States. The Institute for Quality of Life (IQOL) ranks cities based on 24 factors across five categories: citizens, governance, environment, economy, and mobility. The top 37 cities are placed in the "Gold" section, and Minneapolis was the only US city to make the cut. Only four U.S. cities were included in the top 100.
