Peat is one of Minnesota's abundant but often misunderstood natural resources. In my 20 years of business and economic development in the region, I've learned Minnesota is rich in peat. It's an important part of our economy. About 6 million acres of our state are covered in peat, and peatlands account for over half of Minnesota's wetland ecosystems.

That's a massive resource with huge potential to impact our economy.
