At Great River Energy, we encourage our member-owner electric cooperatives to pursue electric uses that save consumers money, reduce emissions and improve overall efficiency of the electric grid. As we work to modernize the grid, we believe that members can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by participating in the electrification of transportation.

Great River Energy electric cooperatives work to build Minnesota’s electric corridors

Earlier this year, the state of Minnesota announced significant grants and rebates for electric vehicle (EV) purchasers. These grants and rebates will benefit first-time EV buyers, dealerships that sell EVs, and school districts that buy and maintain electric buses and charging infrastructure. This signifies that EV adoption in the state may increase in the coming years.

With that comes a significant need for improved charging infrastructure. Our member cooperatives continue to help establish Minnesota’s electric corridors, helping to create better charging infrastructure along I-35 and I-94 to allow EV drives to reach northern Minnesota with no emissions.
