The City of St. James is drafting a purchase agreement and speaking about terms to sell their EDA Spec Building.

Maple Grove, Minn. — Great River Energy has agreed to purchase a new 20,000 square foot steel building that is currently being constructed in the St. James Industrial Park. The City of St. James Economic Development Authority approached Great River Energy about buying the building and site from the city as a way to attract and grow local business.

“This site is ideal for Great River Energy,” said Jud Goerss, manager, field services. “It’s strategically placed for serving our member-owned distribution substations and Great River Energy’s transmission system in the southwest part of the state. We’re excited to partner with the city of St. James and expand our presence in the St. James community.“

With a current smaller service center just outside the city limits, Great River Energy saw this as an opportunity to expand their footprint in the city. Vehicles, employees, inventory and equipment, which are located at the service center outside the city limits, will move to the new building by the end of the year. Wilcon Construction out of St. James will be the construction manager, and they will be modifying the building to meet Great River Energy needs.
