2017 SelectUSA Investment Summit draws record attendance

8 Aug 2017

The SelectUSA Investment Summit boasted record attendance this year, welcoming nearly 3,000 participants from 70 foreign markets and the United States. This was the second year Great River Energy participated in the summit, which is billed as the highest-profile event dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States.

The theme of the 2017 Select USA Investment Summit – “Grow with US” – was designed to highlight the innovative business climate in the United States and was intended to feature investment opportunities from every corner of the country. The Honorable Wilbur Ross, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce served as the primary speaker, with appearances by several current and former governors, including a keynote address from former Gov. Rick Perry.

In addition to the conference program, facilitated match-making services and networking receptions provided an unparalleled opportunity to network with private sector decision-makers and high-level government officials working to facilitate investment in the United States. The companies attending the Summit have real projects they are trying to develop in the U.S. and they were motivated to meet with economic development professionals like us.

Great River Energy attended the SelectUSA Investment Summit as part of a delegation of economic development professionals committed to representing the State of Minnesota. Led by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and the Minnesota Trade Office, several of Great River Energy’s regional partner organizations attended, including APEX, Greater MSP, Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation, and Greater Mankato Growth.

Great River Energy worked as part of this team to attract qualified leads and we will work with various partners to coordinate follow-up activities.
