Starting a business? Help is available

The 2018 edition of “A Guide to Starting a Business in Minnesota” is available from the Small Business Assistance Office at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

The guide, which is free of charge, provides a summary of issues faced by people starting a business in Minnesota.

“Small businesses employ just over half of the private-sector workforce and create nearly two-thirds of the nation’s jobs,” said DEED Commissioner Shawntera Hardy. “While starting a business is no easy task, this guide gives entrepreneurs the information they need to start a successful business in Minnesota.”

The guide contains information for business success. It covers a variety of topics, from basic process questions to complex regulatory, financial, managerial and business-structure questions. The guide also includes information on programs and initiatives that support small business growth and help entrepreneurs increase opportunities for success.
